The whole world is looking on now as the biggest sporting event besides the Olympics, the FIFA World Cup is on, hosted by South Africa. We get 3 great matches per day, South Africa gets a lot of development and money pumped into it and I’m entertained throughout my would-have-been-boring-otherwise days off of school. I can’t even think of anything bad. Actually, yes, there are the Vuvuzelas, those fucking annoying loud-ass horns the South African fans use during the game that noone seems to like other than them. Why don’t they beat a drum or blow a whistle, clap, sing or something? The Vuvuzelas are definitely the BAD part of the World Cup an I really wish FIFA would ban the fucking thing. I’m thousands of miles away and it PISSES me off when I hear it on the TV, I feel sorry for the players there or the fans in the stadiums who share my hatred of the loud, droning NOISE those horns make.

So far things have been very interesting with a lot of unexpected results like reigning champions Italy drawing 1-1 with New Zealand, Mexico BEATING former world champions France and England drawing 0-0 with Algeria (my favorite).

My favorite teams are Portugal, Holland, Germany, Argentina and Spain.

I’m looking forward to seeing England lose and draw as many matches as possible as I hate them, same goes for USA. Brazil is a great team but seeing them dominate is boring now, I wanna see them lose as well. France sucks and I’m glad they’re doing horrible…losing to Mexico and shit, even Trinidad and Tobago beat Mexico, does it mean we’re capable of beating France?

All of the upsets make me constantly wonder about the impact T&T would have had if they had qualified again for this World Cup.

One thing that I can’t understand is the difference between star players’ performances when they’re playing for their national team from when they’re playing for their clubs.

Fernando Torres was lol-ridiculous today with his attempts on goal
Didier Drogba only scored one goal for the Ivory Coast so far
Rooney has done absolutely nothing for England (lmao)
Messi played 2 matches and scored no goals
C. Ronaldo scored a goal today after some months of a goal drought for Portugal
Gerrard : 0 goals
Lampard : 0 goals

And the list goes on and on. These statistics/performances are all in sharp contrast with these players club performances however, and it makes me wonder.

Are they afraid to give it their all for the national team because they don’t want to be injured?

Are they just not motivated to perform for the national team because there’s no money in it like club football?

Is their “stardom”  totally reliant upon a star team? Example, does Drogba NEED a Chelsea midfield to feed him the balls to score the many goals he does all season for them? Is he just an ordinary player when placed in an ordinary team like his national team the Ivory Coast?

Is football becoming somewhat standardized, making “dominance” of games(other than Portugal’s 7-0 kick ass of North Korea today) harder?

Talent only goes so far, once a team has a decent coach, a decent wealth of experience, is decently organized and plays decently, they can do anything. Some points to remember for all the bandwagonists out there who are quick to support the traditional powerhouses of football just because they win a lot :

Greece were crowned the UEFA Euro 2004 Champions (FIFA WORLD RANKING :  #13)

Trinidad and Tobago (FIFA WORLD RANKING: #95) drew with Sweden (FIFA WORLD RANKING: #37) at the 2006 World Cup

New Zealand (FIFA WORLD RANKING: #78) drew with Italy (FIFA WORLD RANKING: #5) just a few days ago.

I think this is anyone’s World Cup this time around and its upsetting that there aren’t more random underdog teams out there like Jamaica, Trinidad, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Papua New Guinea etc to shake things up and potentially embarrass the overly exposed “big name” players of larger nations.

My friends on Facebook will be familiar with my love affair for Drake, the upstart Canadian rapper who debuted on the scene with his first hit “Best I Ever Had”. I post up a video of one of his songs like every other day. I don’t think there is any artist out there who has excited me as much as Drake has, he’s a mix of both my favorite genres of music, Rap and R&B.

I’ve listened to every single song he’s released, even freestyles on radio shows, I know all his interviews and everything about him.

Naturally his album release, Thank Me Later was a major highlight for me and it lived up to its hype and expectations :

While I do love every track, I must say I’m getting a little bored of his autotuned-R&B, he should really try to sing on his own, not to mention moving away, far far away from Lil Wayne’s influence as much as possible. Lil Wayne was and is still is the most undeservingly successful rapper out there. His lyrics are literally retarded and his voice is annoying. Pairing Drake with Lil Wayne only highlights how shitty Lil Wayne really is. I can randomly pick 2 songs where Drake featured Lil Wayne and his garbage lyrics just seem to come out even more than usual :

Patrick Manning says he accepts responsibility for the vote that ousted the People’s National Movement after nine years in power.

A five-party coalition gained a 29-12 advantage in the Caribbean nation’s parliament in Monday’s election. Coalition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has become the country’s first female prime minister.

Many party faithful are angry with Manning for calling elections halfway through his five-year term in a gamble that he never fully explained.

Some booed as Manning left party headquarters under a police escort after announcing his resignation Thursday evening.

The “five party coalition” is the People’s Partnership, a “justice league” of political parties in the UNC, COP, TOP, NJAC, etc.

I can do nothing more than laugh my ass off at Patrick Manning. He had every opportunity to stop his egotistical, arrogant, disdainful bullshit which Trinidad and Tobago has endured for so long.

Hospitals and schools were needed, he decided to spend billions to host the Commonwealth summit and the Summit of the Americas

He hired his wife as a minister, TWICE

Mass protests and demonstrations against his Steel mills and smelters, he went ahead with them anyway

He gave unconstitutional power and authority, not to mention unwavering support to UDECOTT, chaired by Calder Hart, which turned out to be one of the biggest corruption scandals Trinidad has ever seen.

Its widespread opinion that Martin Joseph is the worst national security minister probably in the history of mankind, Manning praises him constantly and refuses to replace him.

I can go on and on.

While I do not like the new government, I do not support this “coalition” per se, let them get a chance. Patrick Manning will go down as the sole reason the PNM has lost power and will continue to be out of power for ATLEAST 5 years.

I know a lot of people are being politically correct and being skeptical about this issue, but I’ve seen enough and there is no doubt as to what is going on.

I really, really relate to this blog post over at Witness314. It really woke up a lot memories, emotions and thoughts about a former “person in my life”… to say the least. I’m not sure if I can call her a former friend or former girlfriend, given all the indignance I feel towards her. For me its just 9 months, but I can see myself feeling the same a year and a half later too. Here’s the post :

So I’m sorry to say after a year and a half I still miss and love my ex-fiance. It makes me mad that I do cause I’m pretty sure she doesn’t at all. I guess I just hate that fact that I knew she was the one. I mean we were a perfect couple and the last 7 or so months we had problems I did some shit so did she. The most fucked up part is I’ve learned about myself that my achilles heal is love. I’m a strong guy as far as emotions and being vulnerable goes but really a year and a half? C’mon I don’t think I really have ever been in love until her.

What’s really weird is I have ex’s coming from everywhere trying to get at me and it means nothing. I have new girls trying to get at me and it still means nothing. There are girls now that I never thought would talk to me, I mean beautiful women that are DTF”down to fuck” and I don’t want to, she is still more beautiful to me. Like I said I hate the fact that I’m not over her but I truly don’t want to forget her or hate her to forget her, but on a daily basis I think of her smile and her eyes. I know she doesn’t need a man in her life just like I don’t need a women in mine. We’re born alone we die alone but I wanted to share my life with her and still do.

I know we’re never gonna get back together no matter how much my heart would want me to believe other wise, but she was my best friend and I don’t have that anymore. I just don’t get how all the things we said to each other don’t mean shit anymore, people don’t try for each other like they use to, don’t sacrifice like my grandparents did. She never told me what she wanted and I always said the wrong things to stop the fights. I now hate the saying”you don’t know what you have til it’s gone” cause it’s true. She doesn’t understand how I had to lose her to know what she meant to me. My only answer is I just did. I want to talk to her and talk about how all I want is another chance but she won’t. I don’t get it i’ve seen guys get married on death row, women take back their sex addict husbands, buys who beat their wives and almost killed them but get a 2nd chance and yes I agree those women are idiots for doing the shit. But I was ready to give her the world and would have broke my neck trying to and she left. She left the day after my son left and it was the 1st time I saw him in his 1st 5 years since the adoption.

Everyone tells me she didn’t love me or someone that did love me wouldn’t have done anything like that to me. My head hears and agrees but like I said my heart won’t give up on her. And if you know me I wear my heart on my sleeve and it always wins. There’s one thing I would always tell her. We’d be laying in bed looking at each other and she would ask “Baby how do you know your gonna love me when I get older and out of shape?” I’d look her in the eyes and tell her sweetheart I know cause when I close my eyes and hold your hand your gonna feel just like you feel now and when I look at you all I’m gonna see is you the person I love. I’ve never said that to anyone but I said it to her and it’s still true. I still have days where I want to sleep the whole day away cause I miss her or think about her non-stop. I hate that I do it i wish I could erase the 5 1/2 years we had so I could be over her. I don’t have any regrets in my life besides breaking her heart and thats soo real. Everything I’ve done in my life has made me who I am now but the only thing I learned from this is heartbreak, confusion, and feeling alone. I’m a strong guy but this definitely has brought out the bitch in me.

I know if we were every to get back together she would want the old me, shit talker, sarcastic but still let her know she was the one. Honestly I’ve beat myself up abut her so much that when I do get around her I still try to make up for hurting her not talking into account that she fucked up just as much if not more at this point. I forgive her but no I will never forget I know underneath it all I’m the same person but when I needed her most she abandoned me. We are all human and we make mistakes but this shit with her I don’t understand and I may never she never told me what she wanted and I’m not a mind reader that was a big problem. Communication was an issue but I know married people with worse issues. I guess the thing that fucks with my head ladies is by far women you are the most beautiful and sexiest thing known to man, but there’s something fucked up about your thought process. Not all women but it seems like a lot these days. You say you want a good man that will be good to you love you and treat you right. But when that guy comes you either don’t give him the time of day or you treat him like shit. Women go for the guy that’s gonna cheat on her and use her and whatever else, not only that but if he leaves her she’ll fight for him and try to make shit work.

Good guys with jobs and ambition get kicked to the curb while assholes with issues get all the love. I know since I’ve been single I tried the asshole approach and the shit works like no other. It’s not who I am but it works none the less. I got with 2 girls who are best friends and they knew about it didn’t care as long as I acted like a dick to them, still talking to them and they still wanna get smashed. If I wold have came at them and been nice like a gentleman like I normally do it would have never happened. Women just decide what you want. Anyways I was with my ex so long that when she left it felt like a divorce I miss her family, her best friend, and her just like I miss my family. And I have our valentines day puppy as a constant reminder of her, how nice of her to take everything except things that don’t remind her of us and leave them with me. that’s it that was my sob story. back to drinking and trying to hate her now wish me luck

Another tragic case of death on the roads of Trinidad. 4 friends including 2 UWI students died on the Manzanilla Main Road, Northeast Trinidad on the 17th January 2010.

“Rikki Balroop, 23, an employee at the Ministry of Energy; Rickson Lalla, 24, an information technology student; Marvin Seebaran; and Sardiya Sharma, 23, a chemical engineering graduate, all died on the spot after their car flipped over several times and crashed into a Toyota Hilux. A report said the friends, all residents of the Sangre Grande district, were proceeding east along the main road at Sangre Chiquito around 1.14 am, when Lalla, who was driving, lost control of the car.”

The driver of the Hilux, Shane Leon, was taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where he was treated and discharged. During a brief interview at Balroop’s family home in Guaico, Terry Beekhee, Rikki’s uncle, said young drivers should pay more attention to road traffic regulations. “Most young drivers need to know what they are doing to avoid accidents…My advice to them is to study the regulations,” Beekhee said. Rikki’s brother, Hayden, said he was shocked to hear about the accident.“I heard there were cars drag-racing and they crashed into the back of a Hilux,” he said. Its posthumous defamation of character. Even the police are saying they “believed they met up with some other cars to drag race”. WTF?? The guy was driving a fucking Toyota stationwagon. Who drag races with that?? What forensic evidence or any evidence for that matter backs up those claims?

Its so sickening to hear such petty bullshit come out of people in a matter involving the DEATH of people. EVEN IF they died as a result of drinking and driving, where is the sensitivity of these self-righteous fools out here who nastily hint that death is a just reward for driving young because they probably were drinking or drag racing anyway?? What if the families of these people read those comments or heard those words from these people? I guess this balances off the story about the response to Haiti by Trinis in donating to the Red Cross. Trinidad is indeed a primitive,  insensitive and vile society when its ready to be.

My condolences to the families of  Rikki Balroop, Rickson Lalla, Marvin Seebaran and Sardiya Sharma. God bless.
