The Undisputed Truth

I decided to try out Apple’s Safari browser the other day as the shortcut for it is just on the desktop doing nothing since I installed it months ago.

I couldn’t believe what I saw as an “upcoming movie” on the home page : a Neon Genesis Evangelion movie in live action. The title is “Evangelion”.

There was no foreseeable warning before it happened — a catastrophe of unparalleled scale and magnitude overwhelmed the entire globe. This event, recorded in history as “The Second Impact,” caused half the population of the Earth to perish and devastated the world. All that remains of Japan is Tokyo-3, a city that is now being attacked by giant creatures that seek to destroy mankind. These creatures are called Angels. Fourteen year old Shinji Ikari is called to Tokyo-3 by his father who he hasn’t seen in more than eight years. He is asked to come to the NERV headquarters to meet his father. His father reveals to him a gigantic humanoid weapons system that the special governmental agency has secretly developed to fight the Angels and then orders Shinji to pilot the giant artificial human Evangelion Unit One. With the fate of the world resting on his shoulders, how will the 14 year old boy Shinji fight? If for some reason you don’t know what NGE is, its one of the most popular anime series of all time. Note the word popular, not artistic or brilliant or any of the other undeserved accolades it usually receives. GIGLI and FREDDY GOT FINGERED are both “popular” too. And wow I’m excited to see how much more fuckin crazy Hideaki Anno (director of the original anime) is gonna portray NGE in LIVE-ACTION. I’m really hoping people wise up and stop accepting inane and abstract as pure genius and manna from heaven.

Sad thing is regardless of how stupid this anime is and how by extension, stupid the movie will be……..it’ll still be better than Dragonball Evolution, which is better than NGE any way you look at it.

Anyway, I couldn’t find preview pics, but this shit is supposed to come out on July 17. 2009 my “ex” anniversary, and also the day Harry Potter is supposed to come out as well. Talk about suckiness. Damn maybe I should just stay home that day and OD on Nyquil.
