Not Enough $$ For Trinidad Holiday
After spending between TT$1-$2 billion on the ever so wasteful Fifth Summit of the Americas, stories like this come up which just highlights how the Summit is a total waste of money. Ian Alleyne, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Crime Watch has revealed on his show that the Summit cultural presentation alone cost TT$90 million.
While I am somewhat not in agreement with the government having to contribute any significant amount of money at all for holiday celebrations (shouldn’t the committees themselves do that, and cut down on expenditure if they can’t?) if they find it fit to host billion-dollar summits and build hotels and high-rise buildings to make Port-of-Spain “look good” then why not give the Indian Arrival Day organizers some real money?
