Three Friends Die in Car Crash

Dying young is sad and shocking to everyone left behind. This case is no exception, and its worse because its guys my age.

Johann Saney, 23, UWI student, Nicholas Ramdeen, 26, oil refinery operator and Chris Ramlagan, 25, a biochemist, all from South Trinidad died when the car they were heading home in slammed into a railing and crashed into a concrete embankment, bursting into flames.

The reports are at the Trinidad Guardian and Trinidad Express.

Firemen at the scene of yesterday's accident examine the car in which three friends were killed when their vehicle burst into flames following a crash on the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Claxton Bay.

Radio reports have said they were coming back from the Zen nightclub.

I only know Saney because I used to see him around on campus, playing football, at the club, etc. Never spoke with him but I still feel like someone I knew personally died because his personality seemingly was similar to mine, and people like him make UWI fun : carefree (90% I saw him he was either playing football or liming somewhere on campus), fun (he goes out a lot), faithful (always with his girl) yet at the same time hard-working (engineering student, nuff said).

Sad now that he is gone and that I never got the chance to connect with him because by all accounts he seems like a cool dude.

This is truly a shock to the UWI and to young people as a whole.

Please be careful on the roads and stop drinking and driving

Ofcourse what would tragedy in Trinidad be without some sort of foolishness involved :

“The accident caused a massive traffic jam along the north and southbound lanes of the highway by drivers who all wanted to catch a glimpse of the accident.

The curiosity of the drivers resulted in 16 cars being involved in several minor accidents, among them a Prisons Service van.”
