Interchange Fascination

So the big news last Friday at noon was that the Churchill Roosevelt/ Uriah Butler Highway Interchange thingy was opened and we can, *gasp*, drive on it now!!

Too bad it only took like 3 years.

I’m not really impressed by it because it does nothing for the north to south traffic insanity-inducing bullshit every morning which steals several hours of sleep from everyone who works in Port-of-Spain and results in a pain-stakingly long commute even though the distance really isn’t that long.

But hey its a new road and it really does help if you’re coming from work in Port-of-Spain on evenings.

What I saw on Friday though just flat-out embarassed me. There were people on the interchange………………just hanging out.

Multiple cars were parked on the shoulder lane, and people were literally having mini-parties there with alcoholic drinks, taking pictures. I mean WTF. Are Trinis so easily fucking fascinated?? Were people tweeting, “OMG I’m on the interchange!!”?? Keep in mind this is now a busy interchange and its dangerous to even park there to say the least.

I really felt like I was Columbus watching Amerindians in total amazement by ships and bow down to me thinking I was God. Come on people, its a STRIP OF ROAD ABOVE GROUND. I really hope no foreign visitors saw this in action as it really is laugh-out-loud embarassingly STUPID.
