Solid Evidence of Human Trafficking in Trinidad
I believe where there is smoke there is fire, I won’t suspect fire is there or allege that something is being burnt. What was reported today in the Trinidad Express was definitely a huge cloud of smoke, with a sign that reads “Fire Below Me” waving around in the sky.
It has been confirmed that human trafficking exists in Trinidad and Tobago.
A 14 year old boy was on his way to school in the front seat of a unregistered taxi (locally referred to as PH-taxi) with 3 students of another school in the back seat. The three other students were dropped off at their destinations. Shortly after, all the boy could remember was the place being “dark” and someone removing rope off his feet on a boat with 6 men.
The boy’s reaction however, thankfully was extraordinary. He laid there pretending to be knocked out, waited for the men to go to the front of the boat, then slipped into the water, waded to shore and ran straight to a nearby Police station. His parents were filing a mission person’s report at another police station.
Now do you need to read an expert’s opinion, or hear from a government official that human trafficking exists in Trinidad and Tobago? Or is the high amount of missing people, plus this amazingly scary story more than enough?
I personally find this very disturbing and frightening. It really shook me up. I think we now need international assistance to deal with this problem, because it is obviously very organized, rampant (another teenage girl went missing today), is of an extremely serious nature and the local authorities are like cavemen swinging clubs at ninjas. Ofcourse not the Acting Police Commissioner or the Minister of National Security or the Prime Minister or even the MP for the area where these events unfolded has jack-shit to say about it. Yet another example of the plight of the people being seconded to a regional cocktail party (Summit of the Americas)
