Sign the Petition for Karen Nunez-Tesheira to Resign
Irony reigned like no other as the former lecturer of civil law, vice principal of the Hugh Wooding Law School and author of a legal text on ethics defended the unethical and undefendable on Friday.
In the most bold-faced, shameless, despicable political act I’ve ever seen since George W. Bush said his government responded well to Hurricane Katrina, Finance Minister Karen Nunez-Tesheira returned Friday to Parliament to spit in the face of the public. Read the official record of her response here. You would swear there was no evidence against her as she delivered a snarling speech announcing that :
- The allegations of conflict of interest and insider trading are nothing more than public mischief
- She is 100% innocent and only knew about the troubles of CL Financial on January 14th 2009.
Ms. Nunez-Tesheira did not address the facts that :
- She received dividends from CL Financial after they were bailed out by the government
- SHE DID NOT AT ANY TIME DISCLOSE to the public or parliament her stake of 10,410 CL Financial shares (thankfully this was revealed due to the work of Mr. Wilson at the Trinidad Guardian)
- HER FAMILY SUSPICIOUSLY WITHDREW OVER $2 MILLION from the Clico Investment Bank just before Clico folded.
Do you think Timothy Geithner could have even ONE share in AIG, yet still be presiding over its bailout?? We deserve the standards of any other developed country in the world.
The matter is not about a witch hunt, trying to put Ms. Nunez-Tesheira in jail, even though that may be appropriate, as her situation is similar to Martha Stewart’s (lying), the public is asking that she does the honorable thing and step down.
Enough is enough.
No more talk and wait for this nonsense to continue.
